The UK punches well above its weight when it comes to mountain biking. From purpose-built trail centres to raw natural singletrack, Britain has something for every type of rider. Whether you are a beginner looking for your first taste of trail riding or a seasoned enduro racer hunting technical descents, these five destinations belong on your must-ride list.

Glentress, Scotland. Part of the 7Stanes network, Glentress is arguably the most popular trail centre in the UK. With trails ranging from gentle green routes to the demanding black-graded Spooky Wood descent, it caters to all abilities. The views across Peebles are stunning and the cafe at the trailhead is the perfect end to a big day out.

Afan Forest Park, Wales. Known as the MTB capital of Wales, Afan offers over 100 miles of trail. The White's Level and Skyline routes are legendary among UK riders for their flow and technical challenge. The forest setting is dramatic and the trails are impeccably maintained.

Kirroughtree, Scotland. Another 7Stanes gem, Kirroughtree sits in Galloway Forest Park and features some of the most technically demanding trails in Scotland. The black-graded McMoab section draws riders from across the country for its granite slabs and exposed rock features.

Cannock Chase, Staffordshire. In the heart of England, Cannock Chase is the most accessible trail centre for millions of riders in the Midlands. The Follow the Dog trail is a classic and the Monkey Trail offers more technical challenge for experienced riders.

Cwmcarn, Wales. A compact but brilliant trail centre with a shuttle service that makes lapping the descents effortless. The Twrch Trail is a full mountain experience with stunning valley views and technical singletrack that rewards skilled riders.
